School Policies
Class placement
Class sizes are limited to provide individualized instruction. In order to maintain a consistent skill level within each class, dancers with prior dance experience wishing to enroll after a session has begun may take a free placement class or discuss placement with the director.
Make-up classes
Dancers are encouraged to make up missed classes. There are no refunds for classes missed. Dancers may take a make-up class in the same or lower level. In case of planned absences, make-up classes may be taken prior to the absence. Make-up classes may not be taken during observation/demonstration week.

We invite family and friends to observe class the 9th week of each semester. There will also be an in studio class demonstration the last week of the semester and a year end performance in a theater at the end of the final semester. A waiting area is provided for non-visiting days.

Enrollment
The Dance School's enrollment policy is based on two semesters of eighteen weeks each. We encourage students to enroll for the entire semester, however we do have rolling admissions that allow for late registration should space permit. Holidays have been figured into tuition fees.
Attire
Creative Movement class:
Female - pink leotard, pink non-footed tights, bare feet
Male - dark colored shorts or sweats, white t-shirt, bare feet
Preparatory Dance / Tap:
Female - White leotard, pink convertible tights, pink ballet slippers, tap shoes
Male - dark colored shorts or sweats, white t-shirt, white socks, white ballet slippers, tap shoes
Ballet 1 through 4:
Female - black leotard in a tank or ¾ length / long sleeve style, ballet pink tights, pink ballet slippers, pink pointe shoes (for dancers studying pointe technique)
Male - black tights, white socks, white ballet slippers, white t-shirt
Jazz 1 through 3:
Female - black leotard, black jazz pants, black or tan jazz shoes, pink or white socks
Male - white t-shirt, black jazz pants, black or tan jazz shoes, white or black socks
Hip Hop 1 and 2:
Female - black leotard or tight fitting black shirt (no logos), black jazz pants or tight fitting black pants with stretch (no jeans or baggy pants), black or tan jazz shoes
Male - tight fitting white or black t-shirt (no logos), black jazz pants or tight fitting black pants with stretch (no jeans or baggy pants), black or tan jazz shoes
Tap 1 through 3:
Female - black leotard, black jazz pants or long straight legged black Yoga pants, tap shoes, pink or white socks
Male - white t-shirt, black sweats, shorts, jazz pants or long straight legged black Yoga pants, tap shoes, white or black socks
Modern Beginning & Intermediate/Advanced:
Female - black leotard, black jazz pants or long straight legged black Yoga pants
Male - white t-shirt, black shorts, sweats or jazz pants.
Hair
Ladies must wear their hair secured away from their face and shoulders: in a bun for Ballet classes; in a ponytail for Jazz, Tap and Modern classes
For their own safety, students may not take class in stocking feet.
No jewelry or watches may be worn in class (exception: small post earrings).
In the cooler months of the year these types of dance warmers can be worn: leg warmers, pink for the ladies, black for the gentlemen, and a tight fitting knit sweater pink for the ladies, black for the gentlemen.

Snow and adverse weather policy
SNOW: The Dance School will close due to snow in conjunction with the Everett School District. Please note that if there are any other adverse weather conditions or snow fall clears by afternoon The Dance School could open. Please call 425.259.6861 or email admin@thedanceschool.org to confirm school closure.
